A
country to be explored, an experience to be remembered
Kenya is one of the most
exciting destinations in the world. It is a seductive and
beautiful land that delights and fascinates all who fall under
its spell. A country rich in the wealth of its contrasts, its
cultures and the welcome it extends to all who visit it.
Few parts of the world can conjure up more
natural wonders and offer such a kaleidoscope of memorable
images. From a Masai warrior standing with a spear to a lioness
watching over her new cubs.
Six Superb
Locations:
Whatever you do and wherever you go you're sure to love Kenya's
many changing faces. Lonrho Hotels offers six superb locations
from which to choose, each offering its own experience. Your
African adventure may start at the NORFOLK
HOTEL, situated in the cosmopolitan capital Nairobi.
Travel north and you'll arrive at the ABERDARE
COUNTRY CLUB, nestling on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. And not
far away in the heart of the Aberdare Forest is THE
ARK, set in the midst of thick woodland.
Further north, on the
equator, is the world renowned MOUNT
KENYA SAFARI CLUB, offering magnificent views of the
majestic Mount Kenya. Nearby
SWEETWATERS
TENTED CAMP provides en-route accommodation for thrilling
safaris. OL
PEJETA RANCH HOUSE, which is situated not far from here,
beckons with its friendly and luxurious atmosphere. Travel
southwest toward the game filled plains of the Masai Mara and
you'll find the MARA
SAFARI CLUB, set in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Reserve.
Come face to face
with wildlife:
You'll marvel at the majesty of a herd of elephants crossing the
vast rolling plains, or the glory of a million flamingos as they
colour pink the waters of a shimmering lake. During
the migration season you'll witness one of the greatest
spectacles in animal Africa - the annual migration of more than
a million wildebeest storming north from the Serengeti towards
the Masai Mara.
An early morning game
drive finds Impala and Thompson gazelle - perhaps even a meeting
with one of the 'Big Five'; lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino or
elephant. Hippos can be observed in abundance bathing in the
waters of the Mara River. And as dusk approaches over this
beautiful land, game viewing continues at floodlit waterholes
and salt-licks. Leopards emerge out of the night, elephants line
up in single file and occasionally, the elusive bongo, a shy
antelope, may venture from the forest.
The people:
The hospitality and courtesy of the Kenyan people is impressive.
Their smiles and warmth contribute a great deal to the welcome
of this remarkable and truly beautiful land. Experience the
spectacular dancing of the Masai and the vividly coloured tribal
wear of the Samburu. As
you travel around the country you will meet many Kenyans who
will delight in explaining the history, culture and geography of
their home.
