| Maasai Mara,
Southern Kenya. On the periphery of the Maasai Mara game
reserve, in the 'Ol Kinyei Wildlife Conservancy'. |

| ACCESS : |
| There are scheduled
daily flights from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara or private charter
flights from other locations around Kenya. |

| ACCOMMODATION
& STYLE : |
Stylish,
very spacious, classic safari tents concentrating on canvas,
wood and neutral safari colours. This tented camp is located
among grass plains and glades of Acacia trees.
6 tents - 5 doubles, 1 twin;
all rooms are en-suite with a flush - loo, pull shower plus a
large airy seating area and veranda.

| CLIMATE
: |
Clear,
warm days but nights can be cold. The camp will be closed in
April, May and November due to the high amount of rainfall. |

| ACTIVITIES
: |
Day
& night game drives guided by professional guides, bush
walks, fly camping, over night walking safaris, long walking
safaris; beautiful unforgettable sundowners; visiting the Ol
Kinyei Maasai & Ndorobo tribes to learn about their culture
and way of life. The knowledge and bushcraft of our Maasai
guides plays an extremely important part in the experience that
we offer.
All our activities take place
in the mornings and evenings while the middle of the day is
spent relaxing in the camp to escape the midday heat.

| WALKING
SAFARIS : |
We
are able to offer walking safaris for up to 5 nights; through
the acacia plains, over rocky kopjes with spellbinding views and
along perennial springs. You will encounter an expanse of
wildlife, varied vegetation, fantastic bird life and an
unforgettable experience of being at-one with nature in the
Maasai Mara. The accommodation will be simple, comfortable and
warm; each guest will have a "thunderbox" loo, and a
hot shower. |

| CONSERVATION
& WILDLIFE : |
The
Ol Kinyei conservancy and surrounding area is home to many
species of animals and bird life. The Maasai Mara is renowned
for its outstanding wildlife, in particular the "big
5". The African 'cats' living around Ol Kinyei include the
leopard, cheetah, lion, civet and genet. Guests will have the
opportunity to see the enormous elephant, buffalo, rhino and
hippo as well as an abundance of plains game such as the
wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, a host of gazelles, not to forget
the night animals (genets, porcupines, aardwolf etc.). the bird
life is also extremely rich and varied. The wildebeest migration
takes place between July and October, depending on when the
rains appear. |

Health
Precautions:
Shompole Mara Camp is situated
in a malaria area and so guests should take appropriate
medication / prophylactics. Comprehensive medical insurance is
also advisable when travelling to destinations in Africa.
What to bring:
A hat and sun-cream is
essential. Clothing should be limited to informal, plus
comfortable walking shoes, light trousers and along-sleeved
shirt, shorts and t-shirts plus warm clothes for the evening and
early mornings ... layers are advised. Plus cameras, camera
films, binoculars and anything else to help you remember this
once-in-a-lifetime experience.
